TransAlta engages in the production and sale of electric energy in Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Australia. The company generates electricity through its portfolio of facilities fueled by coal, gas, hydro, wind, and geothermal resources. It has joint venture with EPCOR Utilities, Inc. and is located in Calgary, Alberta.

We implemented a Document Management system for managing the engineering drawings and other supporting documents for the plants, as well as support for corporate documents like HR. The Document Management solution was integrated with the SAP system for improved user satisfaction.

Business Challenges:

TransAlta has several plants geographically separated and it was important for them to have a centralized repository for managing all the critical documents including plant drawings and operational documents. The process to view documents related to the transaction in SAP involved logging in into multiple systems and costing TransAlta time and money.

Our role:

We provided the best practices and guidance on usage of a Document Management system and enhanced the existing system. We also provide ongoing end-user support and enhancements to the existing application as well as knowledge transfer.
